Samantha Lindgren of Sun Buckets accepts the 2016 Navigator Award from Ira Berman of Gulfstream®.

The Gulfstream®Navigator Award 2016 was given to the Solution that best demonstrates the greatest alignment with the 2016 theme with applicability across multiple industries generating positive impact on the environment, economies or health while respecting cultures around the world. This year the Navigator Award had a particular focus on solutions in the area of renewable energy, in celebration of Gulfstream’s investment in renewable fuels.

Sun Buckets are portable, stored solar energy cookstoves that allow users to cook without fire, fuel, or emissions. Sun Buckets offers the 700 million energy impoverished households the opportunity to save some of the $100 billion they spend annually on cooking fuels. This technology helps maintain local cooking traditions by emulating the temperature of fire and allowing users to cook where and when they wish, even when the sun is not shining.

The 2015 Gulfstream® Navigator Award Winner

Zero-Blade Wind Energy Converter
by Saphon Energy

Hassine Labied accepts Gulfstream® Navigator Award from Ira Berman

Hassine Labaied of Saphon Energy accepts Gulfstream® Navigator Award from Ira Berman of Gulfstream.

The 2015 Gulfstream® Navigator Award was given to the Solution that demonstrates the greatest alignment with the 2015 theme with applicability across multiple industries generating positive impact on the environment, economies or health while respecting cultures around the world.

2015 Theme: Translate Sustainability into Value-innovations that generate economic growth and increased productivity, while reducing the use of nature’s resources and waste. Key areas of focus in 2015: Energy, Ocean/Land/Air, Supply Chain, and Science/Technology.

Saphon Energy has developed breakthrough innovation in wind energy named “The Saphonian”, the Zero-Blade wind converter. The Saphonian is a radical new way to generate efficient, cost-effective and sustainable green energy. It is radically different from conventional bladed turbines as it is bladeless and doesn’t rotate. It rather follows a back and forth 3D knot motion and has a simple and unique design that is largely inspired from sailboat motion. The bladeless design reconciles outstanding technical performances with ecological considerations. The Saphonian also offers major applicability across various industries. On-grid, off-grid and distributed energy markets are a major target for the zero-blade technology. The new machine could also be used as water pump and air conditioner mainly in remote locations.

Tony Frudakis of Okeanos Technologies accepts the 2014 Gulfstream Navigator Award from Joe Lombardo.

The 2014 Gulfstream® Navigator Award was given to the Solution that best demonstrated the greatest potential to ACCELERATE SUSTAINABILITY with applicability across multiple industries generating positive impact on the environment, economies or health while respecting cultures around the world.

Tony Frudakis, CEO of Okeanos Technologies, presented Desalination at the Speed of Light, detailing a “next-generation, ultra-efficient desalination technology to address our planet’s chronic and increasingly alarming fresh water shortages.” Please find a short slideshow about the technology below, and additional information about their technology at their web site.

The 2014 Event MC, Dain Dunstan, has authored blog post about the Okeanos Solution and its potential. Check it out here!

2013: WITT Energy

WITT2013Winner

Martin Wickett of WITT Energy receives 2013 Gulfstream Navigator Award from Joe Lombardo of Gulfstream

The 2013 Gulfstream® Navigator Award was given to the Solution that best demonstrated the greatest potential to LEAP TO ZERO+ with applicability across multiple industries generating positive impact on the environment, economies or health while respecting cultures around the world.

The WITT device is a technology capable of collecting chaotic motion and turning it into useable power. The WITT technology can use motion from Water, (sea, river and tidal), Human, Wind, Vehicle and Animal movement. It has a wide range of applications in the field of Natural Occurring Motional Energy (NOME), taking all motion, clockwise, anti-clockwise, back and forth and up and down, working on the same principle as the self winding watch (except that it does more) known as 6 degrees of motion.
