Markuu Mylly

Senior Vice President, SeaFocus

Markku Mylly​, Master Mariner and Senior Advisor, will have a presentation at the IntelligenceHunt6 Finals, as he is one of the Inspiring Speakers. He will speak about the Maritime Future as Changing Business Environment.

He is also a Mentor of several student teams participating IntelligenceHunt6, the Student and Company Competition.

Markku Mylly, Master Mariner and Senior Advisor, has a long experience in the maritime sector as working in this industry since 1973. He was sailing in Finnish merchants ships until 1987. In 1988 he joined the Finnish Maritime Administration (FMA), where he worked until 2010. He was the 10th and the last Director General of FMA. In 2010 he started as the CEO of the Finnish Port Association and in September 2012 he joined EMSA, the European Maritime Safety Agency. 

In 2012-2018 Mr Mylly was the Executive Director of EMSA in Lisbon, Portugal. EMSA has ca. 250 employees from 25 Member states and the Agency’s budget for the year 2016 is ca. 55 M€ complemented with different type of project financing in the range of ca. 8 M€.

Markku Mylly has collaborated a lot at international level ever since he joined FMA and he was responsible for many EU Twinning projects during years 2002 – 2010 in Estonia, Croatia and Bulgaria. He also participated the work of IMO (International Maritime organization) IALA (International Association of Lighthouse Authorities) and ESPO (European Seaports Organization).

Markku Mylly is highly experienced Senior Advisor with a demonstrated history of working in the maritime industry. He is a strong business development professional with a Master Mariner focused in Maritime from Rauma Maritime College. 

Today Mr Mylly is the CEO at MyNavix OÜ and the Senior Advisor to SeaFocus. He is also a Member of the Finnish Maritime Society, Meriliitto ry, Finnish National Defense Course Association and Lisbon International Sailing Club.
