John Irvine

Head Of Department at MITRE

John M. Irvine, PhD, is the Department Manager for Theater Command and Control (C2) and Homeland Defense in the Air and Space Force Center of the MITRE Corporation.

Also, he holds Adjunct Professorships on the Health Faculty at Queensland University of Technology and the Institute for Glycomics at Griffith University, both located in Brisbane, Australia. Finally, he is a Scientist in Residence at the RiskEcon® Lab, Courant Institute, New York University. Prior to joining MITRE, he was the Chief Scientist for Data Analytics at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. (Draper).

With 40 years of professional experience, he has led numerous projects in national security, remote sensing, and medicine. He has served on multiple boards and advisory panels, including the Imaging Advisory Board for the Translational Research Institute and the Defense Science Board. Dr. Irvine is active in the research community, with over 200 journal and conference publications. His PhD is in Mathematical Statistics from Yale University.
